Garagan wins NOPGA Championship

Dan Garagan of Pinewood Park Golf Course fired a 4-over, two day total of 148 to capture the 2006 NOPGA Championship at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf and Country Club on August 6th and 7th.

Opening with a 5-over 77, Garagan came back with the only sub par round of the Championship on Monday to win by 3 shots over Ryan Cooney of Timberwolf whose two day total was 151. Finishing one shot back in third was Paul Schweyer of Idylwylde Golf and Country Club and John Hastie of Lively Golf Club with 8-over totals of 152.

Garagan, Schweyer, Jeff Hamilton of the host club and Tom Clark of Timberwolf have qualified for spots in the Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Club Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida, November 20-22, 2006. John Hastie will also be returning on the merits of his 7th place finish in last year's Canadian PGA Club Professional Championship.
